On my first tour across country I went a few days between showers many times. It was one of the things that I missed most, right after home made food. There is a website that can help alleviate that problem. www.warmshowers.com offers its members a network in which you can connect with other cyclist or families that are willing to host cyclist throughout the United States. You are expected to offer you home up for other touring cylcist in need of a backyard to sleep in and a warm shower. It is a great way to cut down on the cost of a trip and, more importantly, it is a great way to connect with people you may not have met on your travels.
