Day 2

Dipping our back tires into the Pacific Ocean (Puget Sound)

Miles = 60

Seattle, WA to Snohomish, WA

Matt woke us up at 4:30 am. His body is still on Eastern Time.

Weather=cold for 5am and a high of 61

We began with an eventful ceremonious-like 5 mile ride to dip our wheels in the Pacific. Feelings at that point=excitement; anticipation. We finally got the bolt for Matt’s bike at a NAPA Auto Parts on the way back. They gave it to us for no charge.

Then the hills began. HOLY COW!!! It is so cold and the only thing that warmed me up was the heavy heartbeat from all of the climbs. I thought we were supposed to have 2 days of flats before we hit the mountains. WRONG–Washington is all mountains!

Laureen’s accidents–total 2

1) First turn with gear=unsuccessful–ran into a pole. Luckily the concrete slab that holds the pole up stopped her before she hit it.

2) A woman on a bike out for a leisurely stroll ran into Laureen. The woman didn’t see her coming due to an 8ft tall bush
